Bowness-on-Windermere is a great place for spending time in the Lake District.
But there is lots more going on than you might first think.
Below are just a sample of the great upcoming events in the local area. They can make your stay with Oakbank House even more enjoyable.
Everything at Windermere Jetty links back to the lake. Our lakeshore café offers spectacular views (whatever the weather), heritage boats and the conservation workshop supply the smells, sounds and sights of life on the lake. Our exhibitions tell the many stories of south Lakeland’s boats, builders, owners and users.
Steam launches, sailing yachts, motor boats & record-breaking speed boats are exhibited in the boathouse, on the water, & in our exhibition galleries. Hear tales of workers & boat owners, their lives & adventures & discover the fascinating developments in design & technology that drove boat building in the Lake District.
Our live conservation workshop is open every day – where you can see our collection of historic boats as they are painstakingly restored.
